"Echoes" and 2001 via Wired.

By the way, Richard Wright died the other day .
In a way, the 80's are kinda similar to modern-day times.----Severin

I love Echoes, and I like 2001 (love the book, only like the movie).

To be honest, I don't like the two together. Peanut butter and chocolate it is not. One of the things Kubrick did right with 2001 was the soundtrack and music scoring (okay, that's two things). The soundtrack for the last segment of the film is perfect. Just perfect. Scary, cold, alienating. He also uses silence to great effect. Echoes is too warm. It contradicts rather than complements the image (with the exception being the first minute or so). The guitar arpeggio (at 3:05-ish in the third video in the link) doesn't match up at all, and really, that's one of the big, big, big moments in the song.

I agree for the most part, but still think it's groovy. "Echoes" is my favourite Pink Floyd song and I've often thought that visuals would be nice....

that said, I have an overwhelming urge to get stoned and watch 2001.

id have to say that my favorite song by pink floyd...actually..thats a lot harder than i initially thought haha. im gunna go with Sorrow, though. such a kick ass song..so addicting.
