SPQR Project - As Rome descends into anarchy and barbarism, you and fellow Senators marshal forces to claim the throne. Game will reset every 15 days or so.
I'm excited about this one because (1) I don't have to maintain the code as closely as the others, (2) it's a very simple game, and (3) the changes I've designed use the simple elements of gameplay to balance each other and prevent it from turning into a click-turn-click-turn-click-turn game (which I dislike).
3 is the problem, though. I don't want to pull Kemal off the Mark IV project, but there's some database stuff involved in the changes I want to make that I'm not comfortable doing. If I had a solid two weeks to do it, then sure I'd try. But what would take me two weeks would take a good coder a few hours. PHP, you have beaten me, and I feel shame.

Ugh, I hate how late it is and how crappy I feel. Damn you, April and your showers.
I really would rather have time-sucked my way through a Medieval: Total War 2 campaign or gone and bought Europa Universalis 3 (it's patched now plus the new expansion, Napoleon's Ambition, is out).
Instead, I worked on some notes for this game. I've been trying to 'network' with some programmer type people for help on this. You can imagine how well that's going. I'm also trying to price out how much the mods I need would cost from the code's author. Not looking forward to receiving his asking price. I wonder if he'll take ducats.
It's very strange. I'm not 100% sure why I feel so compelled to do this. I don't anticipate that this will make any money whatsoever. But there are certain games that I would play (and have played) on the web, and I guess I'm tired of emailing admins making suggestions. I'd rather do it myself in my own little playground. ...but there's still the pointlessness of this all...

I call the high slide. (you have to be born prior to those mass produced suburban kiddie 'play areas' to appreciate that...anyone know what year those started popping up?)

We had slides when I was a kid. I'm 2 months shy of 26. I'm not a li... holy shit I'm almost 26
There are Transformer toys and a Transformers poster in my living, and a Halo Spartan Helmet, a TNA X-Division championship belt and an autographed Bret Hart picture on top of my entertainment center. Am I 26 or just 6?

Well, the Bret Hart picture adds a few years. So I'll give you at least 16. You can go to prom with BG.

I made a big breakthrough with figuring out a major, major, major chunk of this code. I learned how the unmodded code accesses the database and handles each independent round. At first I thought maybe the way it was using the tables and rows wasn't very optimized, but then I realized I didn't know what I was talking about.
After I figured out this chunk of code, though, I was like, "hell, I can do this. Not quickly but eventually."
I ran into more problems today, however, trying to update the base install. I did a fresh install hoping that the issue was in the updater, but no. Now, I'm a bit discouraged about making progress on a mod when I can't even get a fresh install to work.
I suck.

I think today would've been more productive if I'd crawled under a couch with a flashlight and counted Oreo crumbs.
