I finally got fed up with updating ExpressionEngine, and after last weekend's WordCamp conference, I figured I'd give WordPress a try.
So I've purchased a new URL (www.monogodo.com), and have a new blog there. We'll see how it goes.
I've changed my blog

You can move your archives can't you?

Looks good (except for the blinding white thing which is a pet peeve of mine). Personally, I'd crop the spider pic differently because it's neither here nor there at the moment. My suggestion: keep the top down thing because I like the texture. Then I would add a profile pic of the spider (or slightly above the profile angle), create a clipping path and drag it over the texture on the right side. Then put the name of your blog on the left.
I'd also be willing to give this a shot if you have the pics ready.

Thanks for the input, Dave.
I'm actually still working on the look, albeit slowly. The spider pic was there to test a feature of the theme. I didn't think it actually worked, and am surprised that it did. I've switched it back to something else that I'd rather use for now.
WordPress is so much easier to tweak that ExpressionEngine. I can see spending all my time tweaking the looks rather than posting.
Thanks for the offer of help, I may take you up on it.

Yeah, the latest WordPress is a lot better than the last time I tried it.
