I like the new format. I'm not sure I liked that they kinda misrepresented the opportunity to the contestants...it seemed like they didn't know that they had to win a fight to get into the house (I missed the first two minutes).

It's a good idea. Eight fights apiece for the first two shows is cool. If it were up to me, there'd be two fights per episode after this. I wouldn't mind a little round robin in the beginning, but on the other hand, the fighters probably wouldn't be able to stand upright after that.

It's hard to get into any of the fighters so far. No one gets a lot of screen time. No one will until ep. 3 or 4, I'm guessing. The coaches are probably the most entertaining pair they've ever had. They both have a good sense of humor, and I hope the show focuses on them more than Dana (who gets waaaaaaay too much air time).

spoilers.

okay, so last week an arrogant Mike Dolce lost to a knucklehead, Jesse Taylor. The shot of Jesse struggling with the dishwasher door was hilarious and was rhymed by this week's Slotted Blinds on Door Adventure. The slotted blinds won.

Matt Riddle broke a guy's jaw in the preliminary show. I didn't think much of him and thought Tim Credeur would destroy him. Riddle started out controlling the fight. Credeur was in serious trouble. Then he got on top of Riddle and destroyed him. The bell saved Riddle from a rear naked choke. So you're thinking, okay, this fight is basically over. In the second round, Riddle comes out again and takes Credeur down. It was shocking. You figured he was done. They go back and forth, then they stand up and Credeur looks winded. Riddle gets in some shots and takes him down. You can hear Rampage shouting, "let him up," but Riddle doesn't listen. Eventually, Credeur gets back on top in control. Forrest wants Credeur to stay on top, land some shots and get out with the decision, but Credeur moves into an arm bar to get the tap out. Basically Forrest thought Credeur would be too winded to get the arm bar. Exciting fight.

Still no one to really root for. Except Jesse Taylor. He'll get those slotted blinds yet.

I don't remember last week's fight. Dante Rivera beating somebody. It was boring, yet Dana once again goes, "that was an awesome fight." Dana's hard to trust. He's starting to believe his own hype.

This week some guy pissed off another guy. It seems the first guy is hated by everybody. Jeremy May. He put lime in Matt Brown's chewing tobacco last episode. So they fought this time. Brown looked terrible in the beginning and wasn't doing much. Jeremy punched himself out and Matt smashed him. It was a pretty sweet ending. Punch, punch, knee, head kick. Out.

Luke Zachrich vs. Daniel Cramer in the second fight. They were both gassed in the first round. It was kinda pathetic. Luke had the guy's back at the end of the round and kinda flopped on him like a blanket. He couldn't get the rear choke because he was so tired. Then he got blasted in round 2. Dana loved it, of course. Honestly, what is he watching. Yeah there was some excitement, but watching two gassed fighters is lame.

The UFC site reminds me that June 1 is the WEC featherweight fight between Urijah Faber and Jens Pulver. I hope Jens destroys him.

This season has been unmemorable so far. On the one hand, two fights per episode, which is good. On the other, the first round fights are generally not that great. This season is no different, despite Dana's robotic mantra, "that was a great fight." Not a lot of time spent on the fighters or the house. Less than...let's see, I've watched seasons 3, 5-7 and this season (7) has spent the least time with any of the fighters.

also, Quentin getting pissed about there not being a 3rd round in the Cale Yarbrough/Patrick Schultz fight? He didn't watch the same fight. Yarbrough took Schultz down. Schultz could do nothing on his back. Stand up was about even, so you have to give Yarbrough the slight edge to the round. Round 2 wasn't even close.

okay, so I learned something about these 2-round fights. I thought that to win the fight you had to win both rounds. Apparently, I am incorrect. Schultz won the first round 10-9 and Yarbrough won the second round 10-8. So it was 19-18 Yarbrough. Hence no 'sudden-victory' third round.

I thought the latest episode with CB Dollaway vs Nick Klein. Someone, and I forget if it was Forrest or Dana, said this was the most technical fight they'd seen. It really wasn't. Dollaway did 90% of the damage. Klein was outclassed. Dollaway also speaks about himself in the third person so he must be stopped at all costs.

* Jesse Taylor (Forrest) vs. Dante Rivera (Forrest)
* Amir Sadollah (Forrest) vs. Matt Brown (Forrest)
* Dan Cramer (Rampage) vs. Tim Credeur (Forrest)
* C.B. Dollaway (Rampage) vs. Cale Yarborough (Forrest)

Two fights per episode.

even though this week's episode was better than the last few, you haven't missed much. They've shown very, very little of the guys in the house, so you don't get to know anybody--which defeats the whole point of the show.

This ep featured Jesse Taylor's weirdness. If they gave him his own show where he was alone in a room with nothing but Lincoln Logs, I would watch it every week like a trained monkey.

boring fight. Jesse beat Dante. Amir beat Matt. Although all four were Forrest's guys, two went to Quentin's team. They show Quentin sleeping during training. Eh. For someone who said he wants to be a coach someday, he's not doing a lot of coaching. His transfers both lost.

The show is finally starting to pick up. More house antics. Jesse Taylor is hilarious. I hope he gets his own show: The Jesse Taylor Poetry Hour. Taylor called the finale "The icing on the...ice cream...is that the expression?" Words to live by. The icing on the ice cream.

They showed the guys destroying the house again last week. They show that every season, and it's tedious by now (especially since the producers egg them on...sanctioned mayhem is silly when they portray it like, "oh lord they're trashing the house!").

Teaser at the end of this week's episode implies that one fighter will get kicked off the show next week. A limo window is kicked out. Dana puts on his, "Look out, I'm Serious Dana" face.

Taylor's fight this week was boring-ish. Next week is Amir vs. CB, which should be good.

Jesse and Amir got to the final. The last show was a shocker in terms of Jesse causing a ruckus and getting kicked off the show. Looking back, they pretty much established him as a crazy drunk, so I guess it shouldn't have been a surprise.

The card for Saturday's fight sucked and they only showed 2 fights with guys from the house. Eastman v. McFedries? I'm supposed to care about that? Evan Tanner? With lumberjack beard?

Amir's funny, so I was rooting for him. Double glad to see him win.

Next season starts in September.
