Some 'tard has put up an eBay auction for a Nintendo Wii. The 'buy it now' price? $5,000,000. That's five million. Dollars, not pesos. Not one Wii, but two Wii auctions. Each for $5 mil. I wouldn't care if the accompanying text weren't so ridiculous.

Of the $10 million total, a quarter goes to the church of the buyer's choice. Another quarter goes to the lister's church. The third quarter goes to a children's foundation. The last quarter goes to the lister to "be donated to me and my families (sic) bills."

It's such a sanctimonious listing. 'Look at me! I'm going to be such a good person by only keeping 2.5 million dollars and donating the rest! I'm such a good person!' (by the way, it's not a strict 'buy it now' button; it's 'buy it now or best offer.' Guess what will happen if you offer the fair market value for a Nintendo Wii. I'll bet the farm your offer is refused. So much for charity.

This, to my eyes, is a crock. I'll even stipulate that 3/4 of the money will, in fact, be donated. This is a con which preys on the so-called 'holiday spirit.' Instead of asking for 2.5 million outright, the lister concocts this asinine plan about donating some extra money to he/she can pretend he's not simply begging for 2.5 million. He gets to play 'generous benefactor.' It won't work and I hope this person has a miserable rest of his life, BUT I have had the misfortune of working alongside assholes who pretended to be doing goody-goody fundraising whereby the bulk of the raised money would go into the coffers (and payrolls) of the organization instead of to the intended cause. This is the same scam. It would work too if the 5mil asking price was, say, 5 grand or less. You'll find more suckers at the lower price ranges.

Here's their stupid link. And the other one. Eff them.

They took it down, apparently. Nice investigative work Dave.
