I don't think you played badly at all. I was wonky (and plotting for Town domination). When you called me on that, everyone else knew there was something wrong. It was a good call (as was protecting Adam. And in hindsight, I should have locked up Dave or Mono instead of him).

no, it had nothing to do with the icon. rather, i thought that as there were so many new roles in play, there was a pretty good chance that there was a Mafia-Illuminati. i did not believe that it was Chad, so it would have to be you.

this is not the only reason, i'm going to have to go back and read through the Mafia Chat to remember why i had such a strong case built.

I tend to rinse with vermouth. Too much is bad. I haven't tried Chatreuse, but have had a smokey martini (gin + small dash of single malt scotch).

I have a question...

If there are Illuminati and they can discuss things amongst themselves - and there is a mafia and those players can discuss things amongst themselves, isn't this really just a game between the illuminati and the mafia with townsfolk being tossed in as buffers?

Townspeople go in knowing that the only person they can say with utter certainty is innocent is themselves, but mafia and illuminati can narrow their choices down considerably because they know who the people are on their team and I honestly can't think of any scenario where the townsfolk will ultimately win, considering in this game the number of townies vs the number of illuminati and mafia combined were of equal number.

Am I getting it all wrong? or what...

As I've stated in various posts pleading my innocence: The advantage that the townies have is that they outnumber the Illuminated and the Mafioso. While, I may not have been innocent, I stand by that assertion.

The only reason that the Townies aren't hopelessly outgunned in the variant from the last game, is because the Mafia and Illuminati are not working together, they have to destroy the other (along with the townspeople) to win.

The Townies in that last game didn't help each other out, because they didn't work together. Sure the Illuminati and Mafia get secret forums to talk in, but the townies have the Game thread to talk in. They can compare notes and make strategy. Mafia and Illuminati will surely try to influence that, but the townies, especially if they keep an eye on voting records, should be able to work around that.

Unfortunately, many of the players seem to have adopted a "I'll just shut up and lay low" strategy. This strategy harms the Townies in the end. Shutter tried to talk to you guys. He tried to figure out what was going on... but you said, "All this talking is suspicious," and you hung him. Let Shutter be an example to all of you.

Ditto. Also, except for last game, the Illuminati are usually on the Town's side. The game pits the informed minority (mob) against the uninformed majority (town). Generally speaking, the less chatter amongst the Town in the game thread, the easier it is for the mob to manipulate the vote.

What the fuck ever. I understand you and Shutter are in love and all, but if his strategy was so awesome, it wouldn't have gotten him lynched. He basically made the same mistake Dave did last game...overexplaining and overspeaking when it's completely unnecessary. It's not like he was the only one who said anything. I talked. WebKittyn talked. Shutter just talked too fucking much. Let Shutter be an example to Shutter. My mistake was expecting that people who were mafioso before wouldn't make the same mistakes they did in the past. I should've stuck with voting to lynch Mal, but I didn't. My bad. But Shutter didn't get lynched due to his game playing expertise by any means.

Trust me, I'm not claiming that Shutter is some genuis at this game.

I was just trying to add some humor to the point that the townies would be better served if the worked together, instead of showing up voting for some one and then disappearing till the next round.

And obviously some of the townies, like yourself did talk. But not enough of you.
