I like the Madden and NASCAR games (no, I don't play online against QBkiller07), but I'm not getting this year's versions. Last year's NASCAR game was only a minor improvement over the previous (I've played 2004 through the current version). This year's new game has even fewer notable changes. (I guess the Pocono track is back or something, but that's not worth $50).
Madden? I don't know. New features like "Increase your Madden Gamer Level to help create and customize your own in-game championship ring." don't make me reach for my wallet.
EA Sports: Madden, Nascar, NBA Live

but do you think there's really a compelling reason to buy it if you have last year's?

no, I have 2006.
I go on two year cycles on nascar and tiger woods. Even numbered years tend to be better.
I get the new NCAA football every year; I skipped 2005 madden, but normally get it every year. But, since you can download updated rosters now, that'll probably change.

yeah, 2 year cycles are a minimum. if they took 2 years on a game instead of 1, they'd be a lot better.
what's this thing like in nascar:
"modify your car’s handling to fit your driving style"
you've been able to do that since forever.
