For a while, I was hooked on Civ. I played many sleepless nights of Civ I through Civ 3. Lots of one-more-turn-itis. Even played a few rounds of Civ: Colonization. Something in me snapped during Civ 3. The gameplay mechanics were largely the same. The game changed at the edges, sometimes significantly, but the core mechanics were still there. But I guess we all have our limits of 4x timesuck games, and I was turned off Civ. I went to Master of Orion 2 as my 4x of choice, but I haven't touched that game in years.
Civilization the board game has gone through a couple of printings now. I remember shunning it completely when it came out. I had no desire to add to the timesuck of Civ by handling counters and crap I expect a computer processor to handle. It has good reviews. A friend of mine speaks highly of it. It continues to get good reviews. I still have no desire to play it. I'd be willing to dump 3 or 4 hours in some wargame or other (so long as it's not Risk), but not Civ.
Dunno if anyone else feels similarly with this franchise.
Also: Sid Meier presents. Because that's mandatory on anything he touches.

I want to get the 'Risk Board Game - Halo Wars Edition'
http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/B003CYXDIC
That way if the world ends and there's no more Xbox Live, I can play Halo Wars with my wife.

The only thing Risk: Halo will accomplish is instilling a hatred of Halo.
Risk sucks. I tried playing it again after many years of ignoring it. I won, but it gave me no satisfaction. Pointless rolling, shallow strategy and wasted hours.
