I kinda like Ron Paul, for the most part. I can't seem to notice any real difference between any of the other candidates. Is there really a difference between the others? For me, if it isn't Ron Paul, then it's "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" and that goes double if Obama is reelected.
Thoughts?

The common knock on Paul is that he has backwards social policies.
The uncommon knock on Paul is that he is the same as the old boss: naked market economic policies.
The social safety net (or whatever bs buzz term people want to abuse these days) is not socialism (or whatever other demonized word people want to abuse in the safety of their own ignorance). It is a sign of civilization. It is a part of the social contract we make in forming a society. I have no patience for those who lack common human decency and empathy.
It has taken thousands of years of political upheaval for human beings to begin to forge types of societies in which we don't tear each other apart by unchecked aggression (both physical and financial). I trust no one who would do away with these advancements so lightly.

I am unfamiliar with naked market economic policies. And google wasn't helpful. What is this naked economics? Sounds sexy. I was also unaware the US had a socialist ... well anything.

By that, people usually mean a completely unregulated market.
There are a lot of programs and systems in place in both the federal and local government designed to benefit all of us as a group (medicare, social security, unemployment insurance, postal service, police and fire departments, bridges, roads and highways, and other vital infrastructures). We agree to fund these programs because we believe this is what modern societies should do for its citizens. Markets behave differently. They have their place. But not in this context.

Ohhh deregulation. I gotcha. Yeah, I remember when we tried that. Enron was a blast. I have a lot of ideas on this that I'm putting into a new thread. I don't disagree with you in the slightest, I just want to talk about these issues outside of the current candidates as well.
