Al Davis is dead. Merger of Heaven and Hell possible.
There's a quote from Bill Walsh (from the late 70s or early 80s) that had Davis remained a coach, he'd have been one of the best ever.
Without a doubt, Davis was one of the better evaluators of talent throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s. He broke down color/minority barriers his whole life. But with the good, he has to take the bad. His continued insistence on pure speed and vertical passing in a league that had long adapted and evolved ruined the team for the past decade.
As the NFL's old guard continue to fall away, I hope they're replaced by similar minded people (like the Mara family transition) so that selfish idiots like Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder don't continue to infect and destroy the game's parity.
