(I thought I had posted this? No? Okay.)
The Waters of Mars and The End of Time two-parter (really, they work as a three-part finale) were a satisfying end to the Tennant era. A bit of a downer...it's awful to see what's coming (because it's clear in a 'no this isn't a stupid Moffat fake-out; this is the end' sorta way), but it works as the fitting end to the Tennant doctor.
Stupid me for not posting closer to when I actually watched them. If you ever doubt who is a better actor than Tennant, watch the scene in End of Time when he talks to the old man (Donna Noble's grandfather) in the coffee shop about what he did in Waters of Mars. It's a brilliant scene. This is a character who has been in complete control for three seasons and now finds it all unraveling at the end. He's almost helpless: the lord of time pulled to the end of his thread.
Tennant's last visit to each of his friends is also good (and depressing).
Next: season 5
Doctor Who season 4.5 (David Tennant)
