As creator and long time manager of the 'Weekend at the Wastes' thread that mono heroically took command of and diligently kept going and got more miles out of than I ever could, I announce it's retirement, and implement it's replacement that is sure to be lazily abandon by the end of the month ...

The Weekend Files: Vol 1 (not in love with the name but we'll see)

The rules are the same, talk about what happened during your week, talk about your plans for the weekend, and keep us updated as you go about it. If you're out enjoying the summer weather instead of the freezing cold air conditioning and can't make it here, I hope you get sunburned.

This week I had orientation at Utah Valley University. I start school in about 3 weeks. I have no major but my VA benefits include an awesome education package so I'm excited. I have been very sick all week. This weekend will be an honest attempt to finish a checklist I made for last weekend. I struggle in life sometimes. I was married a little over a month ago and my wife, Leah, and I are still trying to put together the apartment. It feels like home now but there is still lots of things that to find a home. For the first few weeks our bedroom looked like a storage room at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

For some wedding gifts we were given a new XBox 360 (I haven't owned one since 2009) and a 32 inch LED tv. My first television that doesn't have knobs and I might be having some inappropriate feelings toward it. The LED televisions are incredible, it's less than an inch thick and doesn't radiate heat like a furnace the way plasmas do.

I am in the process of growing my hair out and growing a beard. I've tried growing a full beard before and I've never made it past the beginning parts of the in-between phase. I'm at the tail end of it now, I've never made it this far. I'm excited, like the first time I made it to world 8 in Mario Bros. My eventual goal is to look like Brock Lesnar. I dunno about all that training he does though, running around with 200 pound logs on his shoulder. Sounds like orc mischief to me.

So what is happening in the lives of the remaining skeleton crew of the USS Misfitopia? Actually I think it's just bridge officers at this point, I haven't seen anyone post who isn't staff in sometime.

My weekend was shit, but I'm going to say it was awesome anyway because I'm a fucking optimist.

Congrats on your marriage, the Chad. I just celebrated 3 years, so yay for us!

Congratulations to you two as well. Things sure have changed over the years eh? For the best, no doubt, but great googly moogly it's been a long life.

Congrats.

Thanks to awesome circumstances beyond my immediate control, I now have one o' them big ol' TVs. I'm looking forward to watching football in a brand new light. That is my weekend.

My wifes friends all went in on a new LED TV as a wedding gift. I've never had television that didn't have a big heavy tube in it. So far I'm a fan.
