Voyage of the Damned was very enjoyable as a Christmas special. Titanic plus Poseidon Adventure plus ...uh...something with aliens...I wish they'd had a larger variety of aliens maybe. Again, not having watched the old Doctor Who, I don't know if he's supposed to have romantic feelings or not. I take it he didn't in the old days but does in the new series. The constant self-sacrifice after self-sacrifice was overdone and took the wind out of each successive sail, which is a shame, because the Astrid arc was nice and could have had more punch. The acting seemed melodramatic and subpar too. I'm not sure why I'm complaining so much, because overall I liked it.
I normally overlook the sometimes cheesy cgi, but the fat creatures in the first episode were bad by any standard. The second episode, Pompeii, sucked and I thought I was in for a long season. The bit about the Doctor's choice at the end of Pompeii was cool, though, and somewhat redeemed the rest of the episode. A friend pointed out that the season 5 Amy Pond actress is in this, and I guess every actor in Britain is in every show. I bet if you can take any Doctor Who episode with a lot of extras and you can find future Doctors and companions.
Doctor's Daughter was good, but maybe too short to properly develop the Enemy Mine thing with Martha and the Hath. That Tennant is supposedly engaged to his on-screen daughter is inappropriately hilarious to me. The River Song arc (Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead) was good. I liked that the redshirt deaths had meaning.
Agatha Christie put me to sleep.
I'll watch the final two-parter again, now that I have it in continuity. I really liked Rose showing up briefly and randomly throughout the season.
Next: season 4.5
Doctor Who season 4 (David Tennant and Catherine Tate)

Got a chance to watch the season finale again. Good stuff. Probably my favorite of the season finales. Still to go: the four Tennant specials before Season 5.
