I've had to pay NY sales tax for anything I've bought from a NY-based Amazon store for years. That could be coming to you too. And soon. States are hurting for revenue, the economy sucks, the average voter (and the two main political parties) has no idea how to have a realistic, nuanced debate about taxes, and the result will likely be that the tax-free internet purchases that many of us rely on to save a buck or two will be gone. Soonish.
