Thankfully, none of my passwords made it into this list. So, in receiving my "we can't guess your password" award, I would like to thank my paranoia for ensuring that my passwords are filled with symbols, numbers, capital letters AND lower case letters - and at least 16 characters long.

What I want to know is: How do they KNOW those are the most used passwords?

Are they hacking into our shit?

As mentioned in the article, "The 32 million passwords it uses as its data set were published on the Internet last month after being stolen from Rockyou.com."

Had it been a survey, there are ways to ensure that no personally identifiable information is linked to the survey taker. That's a standard thing for non-marketing (i.e. non-BS) surveys.
