Garbage. It was two and a half hours of awkward crap, seriously you've been developing these characters over 6 movies now. We get it. For fucks sake make something happen. I swear there is nothing they could do in the last 2 movies to validate all the build up. I won't ruin anything, but the ending was just like the ending of LoTR. Harry will be Frodo, Hermione will be Legolas (except she isn't nearly as pretty as Orlando Bloom) and Ron will be Gimli. I want to say avoid this movie, but at this point the series is like herpies. If you've seen the others and have been following it you have to see it through. Wait until it's on Netflix or something though.
Crap.
Crap.

(don't click the spoilers if you didn't read the book)
I'm assuming you've read the books, in which case, if you compare them the movies aren't good becaues there's so much important stuff that we need to learn for the next movie such as the gaunts, where and how dumbledore got the ring, and you didn't get the feeling that harry reallly thought snape was evil. Like in the book, he told dumbledore several times that he didn't think snape was trustworthy
And the movies filled with relationships because thats how the book is, althought lavander brown whould have been prettier. Seriously, what was up with her?!?
Also, they should have had the battle scene at the end, because you didn't get why the death eaters and greyback went to the castle. They just walked out of the castle and down to hagrids when they were supposed to be chased down. Bill's supposed to be bitten by greyback and there's that whole fleur thing
And the half-blood prince wasn't built up enough, so there was like, no signifigance when snape said "I am the half-blood prince" It wass kind of out of nowhere. And where the hell were the dursleys and fleur and the Order. I mean really!
Stand-alone, the movies are good, but they are nothing copmared to the books

Life's a piece of spit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

The movies have always been interpretations of the books. There's simply no possible way they could include everything from the books in the movies. Some things in the book were condensed into one item, like the Weasley's home burning, which didn't happen in the book, but was meant to depict how the Death Eaters were coming after all the "good" wizards.
Pretty much whenever a book is made into a movie, there are going to be compromises, and the movie isn't going to come off as good as the book.

Yes, very true, but if you just watch the movies, I find them quite good. It's when you start comparing them to the books that you start to dislike them

I haven't read a single HP book. Some of the movies I like, some not so much. I almost hated The Half-Blood Prince. Based no comparison to anything. It was slow, and spent all two and a half hours building up to "to be continued". Seriously, if I was watching all movies in order and only caught the last 20 minutes of Half-Blood Prince, what would I have missed?

Half-Blood Prince explains why Voldemort has done what he has and furthermore, explains all the details from earlier books (or in this circumstance) movies that didn't necessarily seem connected. Everything in the series is chained together, you learn something in these later books that refers all the way back to the beginning and changes the whole thing again. The movies lost a lot, granted the book detail cannot be compacted into a movie.

I thought this was a very good movie. Hilarious at some parts. Awkward (in a goodly sort of way) at other parts. Tense almost to the point of breaking were some scenes...but that's just what I thought.
Fingerlicking Good!

Well, there's the problem right there.

The heavy transitional content does no harm to the popularity of the series, the essentials of which are the enduring emotional attachments to the book and the visual elegance of what's seen on screen.

It's been so long since I read the book that I don't even remember what it was about other than Dumbeldore dies on page 596.
I'll watch this a little later on. I need to see it because I've seen the other ones, but I didn't really like them all that much either.

Not crap, but barely. Although it was long (and felt like it), I still got the impression it was rushing through things. This is the first movie in the series that I felt like I was really missing a lot by not reading the book. Largely, the problem seems to be that this is a portion of the story 'caught in the middle.' Everything's already set up, and there's still another book to follow, so this serves just to flesh out a few details. You know going in that this is 6/7 and that nothing too significant will be resolved. As a whole, the series hangs together reasonably well for someone like me who's not a Potter fanboy by any stretch. The three main actors are still excellent (they have been in every movie).
So for me, not crap, but I'm completely sympathetic to Chad's point. Except for a couple of scenes, it does appear to be skipable. For a non-Potter-reader, the Half-Blood Prince revelation was meaningless.

I voted crap because the end didn't feel like an end and I've always thought that the whole bullshit was too much like LotR which is why I hate JK Rowling's pommy guts.
I'm waiting for another movie that finishes this shit off.
