Slight pixelation there. I forced the widget to be larger.
I hope this movie doesn't blow chunks. I'm rooting for it. But it has the HUGE potential for suck. Why must everyone wear black? I don't want to watch Underworld in every movie I see.
Whatever, I'm still rooting for it. I'm sure I'll hate this newfangled origin of Cobra Commander. I'm also going to hate how the Snake-eyes/Storm Shadow connection is exposed so early. It's in the trailers, fer pete's sake.
And Destro without his mask--his clan's ignominious heirloom? I know it's silly, but this is supposed to be a little over the top. It's our generation's James Bond.

There was a new GI Joe animated movie on Cartoon Network a couple of weeks ago, GI Joe: Resolute. It was written by Warren Ellis, comic book big-shot (The Authority, Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.), so I checked it out.
Prior to that, my GI Joe experience was limited to owning an Atomic Mike doll as a kid, and collecting a ton of the 3 3/4 inch figures just because I thought they were neat. But this movie was an Ellis project, so I checked it out. Glad I did.
The movie acted as a sequel/series finale/relaunch of the old cartoon. Tons of action. Characters actually die--some on camera. Moscow is destroyed. And Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes get an origin story. From what my Joe-addict buddy Bill tells me, Resolute honored the old show, updating and maturing it without spitting in its eye.
Whatever, it worked for me. Now I'm working my way through as much Classic Joe as I can. I got hold of the animated movie from '87, pre-ordered the first volume of the DVD set, and am anticipating my ass being in comfy seat at the UA opening weekend for this new flick. It looks pretty fuckin' sweet!

I don't think this is going to be a hit. I sincerely hope otherwise but I think this will end up being too cheesy.

I agree. Won't be nearly as big as Transformers. Won't see as many families at this one.

I'll go see it, and I'm partial to the reboots but I don't have a good feeling. I could be totally wrong. If it's one thing I've learned it's to wait until the film comes out to pass judgment.

You should have seen me ragging on about Indiana Jones 4.
I even photoshopped a pic of Harrison Ford looking 100 (not hard) with Cate Blanchett in a nurse's uniform toting a big ass syringe and wondered if the movie was going to feature a walking frame and hearing aides.
I ended up loving the damn movie.
Learned my lesson.

Okay. I didn't see the clip before because I've got virtual dial up speeds from midday to midnight and great speeds from midnight to midday - when I'm sleeping or at work...
I'm home sick and I just got to see this and I'm excited that for the first time ever there's a movie trailer out there that doesn't show the destruction of a US city first.
Kudos.
I'll definitely be seeing this.
