That said, I think this one will be better than the last. Less exposition. The plot will probably move more quickly, etc.

I'm just tired of arguing about it with people. They redid the franchise, it's incredibly successful and has made a metric fuckton of money. Michael Bay has no vision outside of the blowy-uppy parts of his movies. Lets accept that things are as they are and move on. The franchise wasn't butchered or ruined, and Michael Bay didn't ruin anyone's childhood.

The 'vision' thing doesn't work because (1) the auteur theory doesn't apply to gigantic big budget movies and (2) the auteur theory barely applies to any movie. Guillermo del Toro is a notable exception.

I had no problem with the first movie other than the fact that I hated the cartoons and I thought the movie was gonna be shit too.
I was wrong and said so.
There are places in the film world for people like Bay and I thought he did an excellent job in the first movie with the basic plot being "find the cube". It wasn't rocket science and I thought the movie was great. I'm even looking forward to the second movie, and by that, I don't mean I'm going to download it; I'm going to see it on the big screen and THEN download it.
In my books, that's a fucking honour!

By the way, just to prove I'm not against any new designs, I do like the animated reboot designs:
