Philanthropy, anyone?

I was just wondering, what if the Mango Radio DJs did a group blog for the blogathon? We could take 3-4 hour shifts or something so that no one person is inconvenienced and normal life (and sleep!) can progress?
I'm just flinging the idea out there as something a few or all of us might commit to. We'd have to agree on a charity, figure out who's hosting the blog, make sure each participant can set aside at least a block of time on July 29, 2006 for the purpose. I wouldn't presume to suggest we broadcast live as well without first asking if Mango wants to do that himself, but I don't think the group blog will step on too many toes.
Thoughts? Possible charities?

If not and I can only do the one blog, I'd be happy to host the group blog as my part.

My vote is for Special Olympics for the group blog. As the Special Olypics this year are also in July, I thought it would be neat. Of course, I'm up for any and all suggestions. (though I think we should try to keep it unpolitical and unreligious)

For me, once is enough.
But, seeing as the current incarnation of Mango Radio started right after last year's blogathon, I would not be opposed to having a 24 hour live mango radioathon or whatever you guys had in mind.
I'll even stop by to cheer you on.

I can blog as Heatherlyn for the group blog, I'm in.
The blogathon is 24 hours of blogging for charity. You pick a charity and people sponsor you. You have to blog once every half hour for 24 hours and they have people who come around and check on you. It's actually a lot of fun, by the time the middle of the night comes around you're delirious and making new friends and just being strange. Last year was my first year but it was a whole lot of fun and I raised over $500 for Doctors Without Borders so it was well worth every minute of it.

I would be 100% up for the group blog for whatever you guys have in mind. I also think a 24hour pod-a-thon would be great. If we got all the dj's involved we wouldn't even have to take excruciatingly long shifts. We could set it up to where we talk once or twice every half hour and it would be pretty nifty.
What charities have you all got in mind? We could do something generic like the Red Cross. Or something more specialized. My vote is still for the Special Olympics, but I suppose I am a little biased on the matter. Some of you know why, other don't.
