My ISP was supposed to be offline tomorrow for maintenance. It seems to be quite unstable today too. I've made a prerecorded show that I'm uploading now while I have a seemingly stable connection. It's just an hour, and it airs 9-10pm EST. If I'm online, I'll be in the chatroom. If not, well, there's a fresh, brand new show to listen to. It's a little silly, but should go quite nice with shots of tequila and questionable piņata fisting.

Don't try this link for about an hour after I post it, but here's the download link, just in case I can't be online later to post it in a more timely manner. The download link is there if you don't feel like listening to the scheduled show tonight. Thankfully, the live365 schedule thing is automatic, so it'll be there even if I can't be.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  :woot: :drinking:

I think I'm done. Thanks, Mango, for letting me play. Thanks to Utopia, Monogodo, WebKittyn, and Jeckles for helping me whenever I had questions, and thanks to everyone who bothered listening. I had a lot of fun with this. :)

I'll still be listening, definitely.

Really Gin? Why?

(Says the person who last week told you "I don't know if I can keep doing this.")

Why? Well, nothing dramatic, nothing negative. 1) Evenings are awkward for me. I wanted to use the same time slot as everyone else but it's not working very well. I could shift times, sure, but also too, 2) it's not helping me find employment.

By dropping out of the DJ world, I can be a much more energetic listener, and I don't blow my meager banter-wad on my own show. I can devote lots more energy to job hunting, and it totally outweighs the need to broadcast.

Hope that helps you understand.

OH NO! Ginger, bummer!
I mean, I totally get it, but that stinks.

Good luck with the job hunt!!!
You've got your chaos in my radio!

I was hoping it was something like this, and not something more dark & negative. Sorry to see you leave the DJ ranks, but I'm sure you're welcome back if you change your mind.
No.

Oh, and another reason why I dropped out, those damn TPS reports were killing me. Too much fuckin' paperwork. :smash: </lame Office Space reference>

No it makes sense. The radio thing is more work than it looks like. You'll be missed though!

More than one person has told me by way of excuse that the radio thing is a lot of work. It really isn't to my perception, I'm just being extraordinarily selfish with my energy, because I need to be.

I won't say what's on my mind. In fact I'm just going to go take a time out and forget this thread.

Isn't that another way of saying the same thing.

Radio is a lot work. One whole night of week shot. Plus some more time, choosing music. Time creating or re-working the intros. Plus putting thought into how to make the show stay interesting (a losing battle for sure) week after week.

Sure it probably takes up less than 10 hours a week total. (on some weeks lees than 5)

But pile that on top of work, family, whatever excuse for a social life you may have, any other hobby you'd like to have... it's a lot.

It wouldn't be selfish to want to devote more of your time to any of those things. This radio shit is practically a part time job, except that I'd work less and get paid more if I just applied at Micky D's.

Ginger... If you are trying to get yourself a job, that takes a lot of work and is stressful as hell. If you need to devote more energy to the job search, that isn't selfish. It's commons sense.

But I'll argue with any one who tells me this radio shit isn't work. :bruce:

Yeah Jecks your definitely right. I've learned the hard way. I've dedicated a lot of my time to the show, as have the others, well maybe not Rho, as he says "I just show up" and thats ok with me. But you do go in thinking, ahhh I'll cut a bit or two, cut an intro, start a website, how long will that really take. Come to realize, it becomes a second job. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the end result sometimes, but it is grueling as well.

I'm not sure why Ginger is resigning. It sucks that she is, but hey if she's got other things she needs to be doing, well then so be it.

PS I'd like to hear Kitty's thoughts as well.
